As a result of natural aging, people develop near vision difficulties from the age of 40. From the average age of 45, glasses are required for near vision. Although distance vision problems have been corrected with ecimer laser treatments for about 25 years, it has not been possible to correct this refractive error, which we call presbyopia, which requires the use of near glasses. However, there have been important developments in recent years for its correction. The effects of the insertion of some materials placed into the cornea for this correction have been limited and there have been problems in performing the surgeries. In some clinics, although the patient did not have cataracts, the lens of the eye was removed and replaced with lenses that provide distance and near vision. Today, the newest technology for near vision correction with excimer laser is called PRESBYMAX. This is a technology that can only be applied with the Schwind Amaris device.
Here, near vision impairment can be treated together with distance vision impairment or only near vision impairment. The treatment procedures are the same as lasik treatment procedures where distance vision is corrected. In this procedure, the corneal flap is lifted with a mechanical keratome or femtolaser device. This technology is currently used in Germany, France, England, Korea, Korea, China, Japan and Russia. In patients treated with this technology, near vision improves considerably from the first day, but there may be a temporary decrease in distance vision. After a detailed examination of the diameter of the pupil and cornea, PRESBYMAX treatment is applied to the patient group suitable for this treatment. It gives the best results in patients who need near vision rather than distance vision. One of the important advantages of PRESBYMAX treatment is that this treatment can be reversed in the same eye in case of patient dissatisfaction. This excimer laser technology, which is very new and provides the most satisfactory near vision result, is applied at Urartu Eye Center. This treatment can also be performed completely under computer control.
