Retina

The retina is a layer of light-sensitive cells (cones and rods) and nerve fibers that allow us to see. The retina covers the back wall of the eyeball just like a piece of wallpaper. The retina is made up of millions of visual cells. These cells that make up the retina transmit images to the visual nerve via nerve fibers. The optic nerve contains 1.5 million nerve fibers and transmits the image to the brain like an electronic cable. In another analogy, we can compare the retina to the white screen on which the movie image falls in the cinema. Just as any defect in this screen causes the movie to be watched distorted, defects in the retina cause the image to be transmitted to the brain incorrectly or even not transmitted at all.
